Most people live in a very restricted circle of their potential being. They make use of a very small portion of their possible consciousness, and of their soul’s resources in general, much like a man who, out of his whole organism, should get into the habit of using and moving only his little finger.
It struck a nerve with me because from a business/career point of view I fear that I may have got into the habit of only using my little finger. You see back around 2007 I sort of fell backward into a freelance career of consulting and helping organizations with their marketing.
Marketing is what I most enjoyed about running my own business so it was a natural progression to do it for other small businesses as well.
Throughout this past decade I’ve had the pleasure of working with many great people and have enjoyed the life of a freelancer.
In fact in 2013 it allowed my wife and I to travel the world for 14 months. A trip that took us to over twenty countries and was truly life changing (We write about travel over at Learning To Travel).
But it was sometime in 2016 that the idea for UPTRN started to stir in my mind. A business founded in my roots as a freelance digital marketer, copywriter, and strategy consultant, but a business that would grow beyond what I can do alone.
I’ve been asking myself if it was time to create an agency?
As I’ve done this my vision for UPTRN and what it could be has been evolving into something that seems too big to pull off.
Who am I to create such a thing?
I’ve come to the conclusion that I need to stop asking myself that – recognize it for what it is – a limiting belief and give this crazy idea I have for UPTRN a go.
Let’s see what happens when I create a media agency of purely remote workers and actively help them advance their careers and grow their own companies if they so desire.
Let’s see what happens when UPTRN uses some of the revenue it generates to support independent artists thereby helping people “live to create” – something I am very passionate about.
Let’s see what happens when UPTRN produces its own content such as books, videos, and films that help people break through their own limiting beliefs.
Let’s see who I’ll meet when I start moving in this direction.
Let’s just see if maybe UPTRN can make the world a tiny bit better.
